Für das literarische Schaffen Bertolt Brechts war die Bibel eine Quelle von immenser Bedeutung. Immer wieder griff Brecht auf die Bibel, auf ihre Geschichten und Episoden, auf den Lutherschen Sprachstil oder auch auf einzelne Formulierungen zurück. Olof Siljeholm untersucht die Bibelbezüge in Brechts Parabelstück Der gute Mensch von Sezuan (1938-1941) und in zwei Vorlagen zu diesem Stück sowohl aus der Perspektive der Intertextualität als auch aus der der Verfremdungseffekte.

Olof Siljeholm wurde 1935 in Stockholm geboren. Er studierte Germanistik und Anglistik an der Universität Stockholm und legte 1960 sein Staatsexamen ab. Danach war er als Gymnasiallehrer tätig. Die vorliegende Studie ist seine Dissertation im Fach Germanistik an der Universität Göteborg.
